MG Motors has revealed the India-spec details of its first MPV – the MG M9, and to be honest, this car is not for families but is a full-on presidential lounge on wheels.

MG M9 Specs & Powertrain.

The MG M9 is powered by an electric motor that generates 245hp and 350 Nm of torque and is mounted on the front axle.

This motor is powered by a large 90kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery, which offers higher energy density as compared to traditional LFP batteries.

And talking about range, as per MG’s internal tests, this car can run up to 548km on a single charge. Quite a beast, right?

Charging Time: Quick or Slow.

If you are in a hurry, then a 160kW DC fast charger will fully charge the phone in just 90 minutes. But for home or office use, an 11kW AC charger will take 10 hours to charge, perfect for overnight charging. And MG’s eHUB app will also help you locate public fast-charging stations. Interior Experience: A Luxurious Lounge Feel.

Talking about the interior, inside the MG M9, you get cognac brown leather + suede upholstery, a 12.23-inch touchscreen, and a 7-inch digital driver display. For entertainment, a JBL sound system, wireless Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay are also provided.

But the real game-changer is its second row. MG calls these “Presidential Seats” – and in this, you get:

• Massage, ventilation and heating functions.
• Fold-out ottomans for leg support.
• Headrest touchscreens for control.
• Boss mode in which the front seat automatically reclines for more space.

Comfort has been given full attention in the rear as well – panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and manual window shades are also available. Rear entertainment screens are optional, but overall, there is a complete feel of luxury.

Third Row & Utility: Everyone Gets Space in This MG Car.

3 people can comfortably sit in the third row of the M9, where AC vents and USB-A ports have also been provided for them. Talking about boot space, this electric MPV offers a massive boot of 945 litres and a 55-litre frunk.

The MG M9 comes with a Level-2 ADAS suite that offers features like 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, ESP, EPB, TPMS, ISOFIX mounts, and emergency brake assist. India-specific BNCAP rating has not been announced yet, but it has already won a 5-star safety rating in crash tests in Europe and Australia.

Exterior Design: Size is Big, Style is Also Premium.

This MPV is almost 5.2 meters long – that is, bigger than the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire! Up front, there is a trapezoidal grille, LED headlamps, and connected DRLs that give a modern look.

The side profile gets 19-inch alloy wheels with self-healing Continental ContiSeal tyres. The rear gets an electrically operated tailgate, connected tail-lights, and a stylish roof spoiler with brake light. Rear sliding doors are also electrically assisted – a complete VIP experience.

Now let’s talk about the most important thing – price. MG has not yet announced the official price, but it is expected that the price of the MG M9 will be around ₹ 65 lakh (ex-showroom). Considering features and space, this pricing is a bit premium, but seems justified.

Launch Date of MG M9 in India: Booking Starts, Launch is Not Yet Open.

Bookings for M9 have already started from May, with a token amount of just ₹ 51,000 via MG Select showrooms. This car will be available only through MG’s premium retail network, and the full launch can happen anytime now.
