India Gets a Price Cut on Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG Bike – New Features & Prices Revealed.

Hey, do you know that India's first CNG bike - the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG - has become even cheaper now?

Bajaj has reduced the price of the base variant of this revolutionary hybrid bike, which has further intensified its competition with best-sellers like the Honda Shine 125.

But is just a price cut enough for this bike when we see that the sales figures are not that great?

Is the lack of CNG infrastructure slowing down this dream? So come, let's know everything in detail.

Bajaj has reduced the price of the entry-level NG04 Drum variant of the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG Bike by ₹5,000, making its new ex-showroom price just ₹85,976. This is the lowest starting price of any CNG bike in India.

This price cut will benefit only the base variant. The NG04 Drum LED variant is still available for ₹95,981, and the top-spec NG04 Disc LED price remains unchanged at ₹1.11 lakh.

This price revision has been confirmed through Bajaj’s social media announcement, but the company is yet to reveal the official reason behind it. But according to market analysts, this cut has been made due to low sales and stiff competition.

Engine & Dual-Fuel Capability: Best of Both Worlds.

This bike has been given a 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, which delivers 9.5 PS of power and 9.7 Nm of torque.

The most special thing about this Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike is its dual-fuel setup, in which you can use petrol along with CNG. In this bike, you get a 2-litre CNG tank and a 2-litre petrol tank.

Its CNG mileage is 100 km/kg and petrol mileage is 65 km/litre, which combined range reaches up to 330 km – perfect for long daily commutes without frequent refueling!

Freedom 125 CNG bike is also quite solid in feature list.

In this, you get:

  • Stylish LED headlamp.
  • Smart LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity.
  • Gear position indicator.
  • Real-time mileage indicator.
  • Combined Braking System (CBS).
  • Single-piece seat for comfort.
  • Stylish rear tyre hugger.

All these features together make this bike tech-savvy and practical in the commuter category.

Sales & Market Response: Struggling Despite Innovation.

As great as the innovation of this bike was, its market response was equally underwhelming. Only 993 units were sold in April 2025, and 1,394 units in March. Such a low number is a point of concern for the commuter bike segment.

And perhaps keeping this in mind, Bajaj has taken this step. Industry experts believe that a lack of CNG infrastructure and low awareness are major hurdles for this product. People in India are still not familiar with the idea of CNG bikes, due to which the demand is slow.

Competitor Comparison: Honda Shine 125 vs Bajaj Freedom 125.

After the price cut, the base variant of Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG is now close to Honda Shine 125, which is currently India’s best-selling 125cc bike.

But Shine is only a petrol-based bike while Freedom 125 gives you the dual-fuel advantage. The question is – will the fuel economy and innovative features of Freedom 125 attract the loyal user base of Shine?
