Hero MotoCorp 2 New Vida Electric Scooter Launch: What is the new plan?
Hero MotoCorp has been the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer for 24 years and is now fully prepared to increase its electric two-wheeler market share. In July 2025, the company is going to launch two new Vida Electric Scooters, and it is being revealed that these scooters will be more affordable than the Vida V1 and Vida V2. These scooters will also be positioned below the Vida V2 Lite (which currently starts at Rs 74,000 ex-showroom price). Meaning, now anyone can easily buy Hero’s Vida Electric Scooter on a budget!
These new scooters coming will be part of the Vida Z Electric Scooter series, which has already been unveiled at EICMA 2024. Vida Z is based on a modular battery platform, which has battery options ranging from 2.2 kWh to 4.4 kWh.
It has a PMSM motor (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor), which has been designed to give the perfect combo of power and efficiency. In terms of styling, it will be similar to Vida V1 and Vida V2 but with slightly subdued colour options that we will see in the market, and yes, new variants of Vida V2 can also come in the line-up!
EV Scooter Sales India FY25: Hero’s Performance
The competition between Hero vs Ola vs Ather vs TVS, vs Bajaj is already fierce! In FY25, Hero MotoCorp sold 58,503 units of Vida Electric Scooter, which is 195% more than 17,720 units in FY24. In December 2024, a record 7,982 units were sold – this was the highest monthly retail of the company!
But Hero is still in the fifth spot, behind Ola, Ather, TVS, and Bajaj. Rivals have sold almost 3-5x more scooters, so increasing EV penetration in India will be a big challenge for Hero.
But Hero is in no mood to give up at all. With affordable Hero Electric Scooters, the company is planning to increase its market share (currently 4%). Plus, it is planning to push the Hero Vida Electric Scooter in rural areas as well, as Hero is a household name there.
Charging Infrastructure and Vida Touchpoints
Hero MotoCorp is also expanding its EV ecosystem. There are currently 203 Vida touchpoints, including 180 dealerships spread across 116 cities. And this number will grow further in the future! Through the Hero-Ather partnership, Hero now has access to 2,500 charging infrastructure Hero Vida stations.
This is all part of the EV retail expansion, so customers will have no tension about charging. The 2.2 kWh battery pack of the Vida V2 Lite gives an IDC range of 94 km (Indian Drive Cycle), which is perfect for a daily commute.
Hero’s Future: Affordable EVs and Premium Bikes
Apart from the Hero MotoCorp EV launch, the company is also making a splash in the 125cc segment. The Xoom 125, Destini 124 Xtec, and Xtreme 125R have received a good response in the market.
Premium bikes like the Xpulse 210 and Xtreme 250R have also been hits. Plus, a new bike and variants are coming on the Harley-Davidson X440 platform. But the Vida Electric Scooter is now Hero’s main focus, as competition in the EV market is tough.
Financially, Hero has invested Rs 1.43 billion in the EV segment in Q4 FY25. To break even, 25,000-30,000 units of monthly sales are required, which is possible in two years. So with the Hero Electric Scooter July 2025 launch, it can achieve this target soon.
Why is the Vida Electric Scooter the Best Choice?
Vida Electric Scooter is going to be perfect for Indian buyers with affordable pricing, solid range, and stylish design, and Hero will also push it in rural areas so that people can buy it within their budget. With Vida V2 Pro, Vida V2 Plus, and Vida V2 Lite, Hero is trying to provide options for every budget.
With the July 2025 launch, Vida Z Electric Scooter is planning to bring more affordable options to the market. Plus, there is full charging support from the Hero-Ather partnership, and sales and service are also easy from Vida touchpoints. What do you think about this scooter of your hero?
