2026 Mahindra Bolero Spotted Testing for the First Time – Could It Be Tata Sierra’s New Rival?

Hey friends, Mahindra has begun road testing the next-generation model of its iconic and popular SUV, which is named the 2026 Mahindra Bolero.

Spy shots of MotoWagon have been captured, which reveal that the new Bolero is quite heavily camouflaged, showing some major changes in the design, size, and platform.

The new Bolero will be based on Mahindra's new Flexible Architecture (NFA) platform, which will form the base for petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric SUVs in the coming time.

The spy images confirm that the 2026 Mahindra Bolero will maintain its classic boxy and upright stance. Its overall shape appears a bit muscular and squared-off, giving it a bold and rugged look.

The front will get circular LED headlamps, and the rear will have vertical horizontal tail lamps. The rear tailgate will also have an upright and flat surface, which might have space for the spare wheel mount.

The new model will also get bigger alloy wheels and redesigned ORVMs. New creases and panels on the doors and fenders give it a modern yet tough look. The F4 sticker on the rear windshield gives a sense that this is an early prototype.

The flush-type door handles give a premium feel to the buyers, which suggests that this model has been made to challenge the Tata Sierra. It may also get LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, and ADAS safety features.

Mahindra’s New SUV Platform – NFA.

The 2026 Mahindra Bolero will be based on Mahindra’s new NFA platform, whose full form is New Flexible Architecture. It is a monocoque multi-energy platform that will support petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains. The NFA platform will help Mahindra develop vehicles for its future SUVs from a single base in the global and Indian markets.

These SUVs will be manufactured at Mahindra’s Chakan plant, where the initial production capacity will be up to 1.2 lakh units. According to earlier reports, Mahindra is going to unveil this platform in concept form on 15 August 2025. The 2026 Bolero and Bolero EV will be the first models on this platform.

2026 Mahindra Bolero Launch Date in India.

Currently, the current-gen Bolero sells well, especially in Tier 2 and rural areas. Mahindra will launch the new Bolero in a slightly premium positioning, and may continue to sell the old model as an affordable option as well.

The new Bolero is expected to be launched in 2026, after the platform is unveiled and initial testing. Considering the loyal customer base and brand value of the Bolero, Mahindra is relying heavily on this generational update.
